The V60 Cross Country’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The ADX doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the V60 Cross Country and ADX have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The V60 Cross Country has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The ADX’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The V60 Cross Country has standard Post-impact braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The ADX doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the V60 Cross Country. But it costs extra on the ADX.

Both the V60 Cross Country and ADX have rear cross-traffic warning, but the V60 Cross Country has Braking Intervention (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The ADX’s Rear Cross Traffic Monitor doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the V60 Cross Country and the ADX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Volvo V60 Cross Country weighs 511 to 753 pounds more than the Acura ADX. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The V60 Cross Country’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the ADX’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Volvo pays for scheduled maintenance on the V60 Cross Country for 2 years and 18000 miles longer than Acura pays for maintenance for the ADX (3/30,000 vs. 1/12000).

Reliability

The battery on the V60 Cross Country is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the V60 Cross Country’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The ADX’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Volvo vehicles are more reliable than Acura With 7 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Volvo higher than Acura.

Engine

The V60 Cross Country’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 57 more horsepower (247 vs. 190) and 79 lbs.-ft. more torque (258 vs. 179) than the ADX’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Car and Driver the Volvo V60 Cross Country is faster than the Acura ADX:

Fuel Economy and Range

Regenerative brakes improve the V60 Cross Country’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The ADX doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The V60 Cross Country has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the ADX (15.9 vs. 14 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the V60 Cross Country’s brake rotors are larger than those on the ADX:

The V60 Cross Country’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the ADX are solid, not vented.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the V60 Cross Country’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the ADX (245/40R20 vs. 235/45R19).

The V60 Cross Country’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the ADX A-Spec’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the V60 Cross Country offers optional 20-inch wheels. The ADX’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the V60 Cross Country’s wheelbase is 8.7 inches longer than on the ADX (113.2 inches vs. 104.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the V60 Cross Country is 2.1 inches wider in the front and .4 inches wider in the rear than the track on the ADX.

The V60 Cross Country Ultra handles at .85 G’s, while the ADX A-Spec AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the V60 Cross Country has a greater minimum ground clearance than the ADX (7.8 vs. 7.3 inches), allowing the V60 Cross Country to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The V60 Cross Country has .4 inches more front legroom, 1.3 inches more front hip room, .1 inches more rear headroom and 6 inches more rear hip room than the ADX.

Cargo Capacity

The V60 Cross Country has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the ADX with its rear seat folded (60.5 vs. 55.1 cubic feet).

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the V60 Cross Country easier. The V60 Cross Country’s trunk lift-over height is 25.4 inches, while the ADX’s liftover is 27 inches.

Towing

The V60 Cross Country has a 2000 lbs. towing capacity. The ADX has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the V60 Cross Country uses the Dynamic Stability and Traction Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The ADX doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Servicing Ease

The V60 Cross Country uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The ADX uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory seat optional at extra cost in the ADX A-Spec, the V60 Cross Country Ultra has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The V60 Cross Country Ultra has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The ADX doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The power windows standard on both the V60 Cross Country and the ADX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the V60 Cross Country is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The ADX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The V60 Cross Country’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The ADX’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically. With the ADX A-Spec’s power windows, only the front windows open or close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the V60 Cross Country the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the ADX can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The V60 Cross Country’s standard Keyless Entry & Drive allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Access System standard on the ADX doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The V60 Cross Country’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The ADX’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the V60 Cross Country to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The ADX doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The V60 Cross Country offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The ADX doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the V60 Cross Country has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The ADX doesn’t offer cornering lights. The V60 Cross Country also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The V60 Cross Country’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The ADX has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Volvo V60 Cross Country has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the ADX and are only available on ADX A-Spec.

Both the V60 Cross Country and the ADX have standard heated front seats. The V60 Cross Country also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the ADX.

The V60 Cross Country offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the ADX.

Compared to the Acura ADX, the Volvo V60 Cross Country eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.
